Hello, I’m Jenny and I live in Hove in East Sussex. We live close to the Downs and close to the sea so have the best of both worlds.
I live with my husband Philip and cat ‘Rocket’, my son having flown the nest a couple of years ago.
I started scrapbooking in about 2003/2004, my sister introduced me to Creative Memories and I loved their products and style of scrapbooking. I signed up to be a consultant after a visit to a CM stall at a craft fair in Lewes. I was a consultant for five or six years running workshops for family and friends and slowly building up my craft supplies.
My style of scrapbooking is simple pages with some embellishments so that the photos are the main subject of the page. I mainly take pictures of family and events and scrapbook by year, which has resulted in quite a lot of albums. My husband Phil takes shots of the surrounding landscape and I often fit the landscape pictures together as a header for my page. This gives a lovely view of where we were.
For several years I went to a monthly craft group set up by a friend, and was often joined by my sister and niece, where we would spend a lovely day scrapbooking, cardmaking or any other craft we were doing at the time. Through this group we went on a yearly weekend scrapbooking retreat at a hotel, first in Bournemouth and then later in Crawley. When this group folded my sister found another group based in Portsmouth who also organized craft retreats so I could still indulge in a weekend away crafting now and again. In September we joined Linda at her craft retreat and had a great weekend. After the last two years it was a welcome break to be back doing what we loved.
My other hobby is gardening and I can often be found browsing round the local garden centres where it is usually impossible to leave without buying at least one plant. My garden was my saviour during the first lockdown where, as I am retired, I was able to spend most of my time. I am a member of the Hove gardening club and joined the committee just before covid hit. We have tried to keep the club going through Zoom meetings and monthly bulletins organized by other members of the Committee and which our members greatly appreciate.
I hope you like the pages I have created from this months scrap box. I had great fun doing them and I hope you enjoy using the box too.
