Frugal Scrapbooking – Make a Layout from 2 Sheets of Cardstock

Scrapbooking doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune on specialist supplies. With a little thought and creativity, you can make beautiful layouts from just a handful of materials.

Guest scrapbooker Karen’s example shown here is a layout created with only two sheets of cardstock as the base, plus a handful of saved scraps from other projects. The result is a colourful, balanced design that tells the story perfectly without any extra expense.

The green cardstock forms the background on one side, while purple cardstock has been used on the other. A large circle has then been cut from each sheet and swapped over to form the contrast. 

Smaller pieces of white and patterned paper, left over from earlier projects have been used for photo mats, journalling strips, and decorative borders. Even the lettering has been pieced together from scraps, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

To finish, a few small embellishments have been added – punched hearts and layered flowers. By combining colour, shape, and clever use of leftovers, the pages look coordinated and complete, without needing to break into new kits.
