Why Make Naked Pages?
- Saves Time – Starting with a blank foundation allows for quicker decision-making when adding elements later.
- Saves Money – Just add cardstock, and use a pen for journalling!
- Encourages Flexibility – With no pre-set embellishments, you can tailor the page to suit any theme or photo.
- Reduces Overwhelm – A simple starting point will help you avoid feeling stuck on complex designs or expectations of perfect pages.
- Focuses on Storytelling – Without distractions, the emphasis remains on the photos and journalling.
How to Make Naked Pages Interesting
While naked pages are intentionally simple, there are a few techniques you can use to make them visually appealing and engaging without adding any embellishments:
- Choose Bold Patterns or Colours for the Base Cardstock – Select base papers with striking designs or textures that can stand on their own and set the mood for the layout.
- Play with Negative Space – Carefully balance the empty space on the page to create a sense of openness, which can draw attention to your photos and journalling.
- Use Different Shapes – Incorporate creative shapes in the base paper, such as circles, triangles, or even die-cut edges, to add interest without going overboard.
- Use different angles – The example layout has everything on a slant!
- Use Typography for Impact – Choose a bold font or hand-lettering for titles or headings, giving a minimalist yet striking effect to the page.
- Add Stamping or Ink – A simple stamped image or a few ink splatters can provide subtle detail that makes the page feel intentional.
