Introducing our December 2021 guest scrapbooker

I started crafting so long ago it is hard to remember a time when I wasn’t. But I had a break for a few years as children came along and work got in the way. But a creature of habit I couldn’t stay away for long. I found Creative Memories by going to a party and that was it I was hooked. How precious are your memories?

My inherited family album sits in pride of place in my bookshelf...  i love it... A weighty tome, with gold edged pages, thick card inserts and beautiful watercolour decorated frames around each photo. Photos of stiff victorian men, and women in amazing dresses and headgear look out at me from the pages.  Getting your photo taken back in the day was not a 5 minute task.... it was an occaision......It involved making time on your precious day off, putting on your Sunday best clothes and taking a trip to a photographers studio... probably by train or charabang to the nearest...

who needs housework?

Its definitely that time of year when we snuggle up in the warm and enjoy our scrapbooking!  Its not always our priority to make time for ourselves, but scrapbooking isnt just self care and relaxation for us, its creating a wonderful record of memories for our family and friends. In 2021 its become event more important that we embrace the activities that make us happy and relaxed.  I've definitely reinvented my weekly routines to include more things for me....   is that selfish?  Theres a saying that you can't pour from an empty cup....  You need to take care of yourself,...

My why.......

I spent 25 years working for a big UK corporate, travelling across the UK, long hours, 5 weeks holiday a year.  I always had a part time business on the go, first a craft stall, then a cross stich supplies shop on Uxbridge market, and finally scrapbooking and papercraft workshops. Trapped… but mortgage payments and raising a family meant it never seemed the right time to quit the guaranteed money of the 9-5 grind.
